The Battle of the Coral Sea Scenario
« on: February 07, 2005, 01:53:38 PM »
In Japan the early months of 1942 were pure sunshine. Flushed with victories which had brought Hakko Ichiu (“the eight corners of the world under one roof”) nearer accomplishment than any time within recorded history, the Japanese war lords forgot, and the trusting people never knew, that Allied weakness was momentary and that the superior strength of the Imperial Army and Navy could not long be maintained.
- From: History of United States Naval Operations in World War II by Samuel Eliot Morison, Little Brown and Company, Boston, 1988

The Aces High Scenario Team, and the 327th Steel Talons proudly present one of the great episodes of the World War II Pacific Theater, The Battle of the Coral Sea

We invite you to join us beginning on April 9th 2005 for four scenario frames culminating on May 7th, the 63rd anniversary of this historic battle. Test your skill as you fly your torpedo bomber through nerve wracking anti-aircraft fire and live to tell the tale, or fly the nimble A6M VS the tough F4F and see who can control the sky. Immerse yourself in the delicate balance that weighs the outcome, as you man the guns of a Heavy Cruiser in the Royal Navy. Yes, anything can happen and we’ve reproduced the elements of chance that will ultimately decide ownership of Port Moresby, New Guinea, the objective behind the battle.

Coral Sea is a switch sides scenario. Team Alpha will play the Allied elements in Frames 1 and 2 while Team Zulu plays the Japanese elements. Team Alpha will be commanded by ROC of the Ghosts Squadron with executive officers ASW, also of the Ghosts and Jordi  of the Damned. Team Zulu will be commanded by FiLtH  of the nightmares with executive officers MGD  also of the Nightmares and Newman of the 327th Steel Talons.
