Freaky fridays...
« on: June 24, 2005, 11:53:04 AM »
are probably gone ; (

remember the fridays of old, everyone crawling to get away from work, some meaningless thread about nothing goes bezerk, 100 replies in 30 minutes, dogs would howl, planets would shift alignment, board members without a post in 6 onths would come out fo the woodwork, and even HTC staff would pop in with a funnay or 2 sometimes.

those were some fun threads, usually completely forgotten by monday, but comedy gold was sometimes uncovered ; )

well here it is friday, working alone, covering 2 jobs, 95° and 100% humidity outside so i am not looking forward to the drive home with no AC, sitting here waiting for a help call finally after running my Arse off all morning, bored.

how's the workday going on your front?
I don't know what to put here yet.

20k march started off at 4:15 am to beat the daytime heat. Everyone complete by 8 with the march and the miscellaneous nonsense that needed to be done,  so we called it quits for the weekend. Gonna soak my feet and take an afternoon nap. Thanks, taxpayers! :D

Cold as a witches teet in the winter, hot and humid as hell in the summer, and an armada of mosquitos bent on sucking the life out of you.  Yep, even with most of my family in Wisconsin, I've made the right choice by staying in Oregon. ;)

funny thing is SOB.. this year we are officially in "drought" status in milwaukee county and the near areas. only 6" of rain since march 1

nary a mosquito to be seen yet this year ; )

though go out to madison and they are booming with skeeters, and most of the rest of the state. it's really weird, just the milwaukee area keeps getting "missed" by the rain storms.

Not too shabby.  Out here we're in drought status even if we get rain that would drown other states, yet mosquitos haven't been a problem anywhere I've lived in Oregon.  Must be a lack of warm pools of water.

Yep, I know what you mean about the northern lats. Went canoeing with our Boy Scout troop in Boundary Waters area 2 summers ago. AS SOON AS THE SUN DIPPED BELOW THE HORIZON - BANG!! Out came the blood suckers, in ferocious swarms so thick you would almost choke.

Just got back form a weeks holiday to find the place abit different than when I left...

Anywho.. Here I am, but im no fun this weekend. Sober and boring. Had 3 beers and a couple of glasses of wine all week. Was too busy looking good on the beach with the belly flapping in the breeze as i walked around looking at all the nice people frying in the sand.

You just described St Louis perfectly.  And reminded me why I moved to Hawaii.  Thanks!  :aok

I had been gone from st. loo for 'bout 7yrs, when I returned one summer with the kids.  I realized that I was no longer a local boy, and was a tourist when I noticed all the st. loo residents weren't sweating, and I was was gushin' buckets.

Heh, I can remember winters where I could actually tell the difference outside between -10 and 0.  It was like, whew, unzip the coveralls a bit, its gettin WARM today.

First time my wife visited St Louis when we started dating, just for a tourist thing, it was February (dont blame me, I tried to talk  her out of it).  -3 outside, and she wanted to wander around downtown.  All she had broght was a denim jacket and a long sleeved shirt for warmth.  For the walk to the Metrolink I gave her my coat, just had on a flannel shirt and tshirt under.  I was fine.  She was freezing with the heavy coat on lol.  I'm afraid after 3 years here I'd be a pansy in St Louis weather now.

I grew up east of St Louis in the middle of nowhere So. Illinois.  Moved to the city for work.  Nothin in the world like South City bars lol.

We go Southwest in the wintertime and head North in the spring / summer. If I don't like the temperature where we are..... we leave and go somewhere else. :D
