332nd Flying Mongrels launched from A20 in Yak’s. Most of use leveled at 5k and went directly to the grunt factory we were to protect at 11.11.3. I had a flight of 4 dogs climb out the whole way just incase someone did come in high. As it turned out some fast moving 109’s managed to hit the target before we got their. Target was only lightly damaged as far as I could tell. About the time we were over the target some 109’s at about 7k came in and dove on the factory (2nd wave). We engaged and a wild dogfight ensued. forHIM, Maddog, and Speede all bagged 2 before the night was over and landed. :)  Several others got a kill. 332nd claims 9 kills 4 assists for the loss of 5 Yaks. One of the 5 deaths was myself. I was chasing my 2nd 109 and tried to hit the auto pilot (accidentally hit the “z” key that is key mapped to take a picture) this caused my screen to freeze for about 3 seconds. At the time I was nose down about 20 degrees. Need I say more?

Iceman was fun having you with us. Hope to see you next Friday. Will send out the orders to you if you want to fly with us again. :)

Stega WTG on the 7 kills! ElevenK bagged 6, and we had three other aces. N7, Muttman, and dronll. Well done gents!

It is entirely seemly for a young man killed in battle to lie mangled by the bronze spear. In his death all things appear fair. But when dogs shame the gray head and gray chin and nakedness of an old man killed, it is the most piteous thing that happens among wretched mortals. – Homer, the Iliad

Well done!

The 327th Steel Talons had 11 Il-2's tasked with destroying the ammo factory in 9,9,7, with escort by the Nightmares and the DOW also in Sturmi's.

We did our best to weave outside the radar range to target. When we went direct to the ammo factory, we were jumped by FW's.

Our escort did their best to engage them, and that got us enough time for one pass on target.

When all was said and done, the mission dropped the Ammo factory down to 2%
:aok

Nice flying all!

Our second mission was to V57, and while we had a few hits on target, the CAP was overwhelming..

SALUTE!

C HAWKS were tasked with covering sector 10,9 agains attackers frome the East. In our trusty 190D9s, we patrolled patiently while the NME skirted our area from the north and south it would appear. We became somewhat frustrated as we moved north, then south in response to radar contacts and reports. Finally we engaged some LA5s attempting to rtb (I think) and quickly dispatched them with our greater numbers.

We rearmed and found a few more who soon died. We commenced to climb north of A31 and spotted 6 more LA5s coming from the east. Our group was now only 4 strong faced with 6 higher LA5s, and well piloted at that, we were quickly down to one lonely Goose. I extended until they peeled off and then tried to chase them home. Smartly, 2 or 3 of them stayed high to cover there comrads safe landings. I knocked on their door once but was chased off by the 3 Highflyers and finally, with little time or fuel remaining, decided to take it home. Unable to avenge the deaths of my brothers in arms, but looking forward to personally comforting Spivey's wife in her time of mourning.. :D

{S} You commie bastages!

The DOW tookoff from A20 in IL2s, with the Ammo factory in 9,9 kp7 as target. Somehow DOWFog and I had "radio problems" so we went NOE to target. We were making our second pass on tgt when the main group arrived on station. Hmmm guess NOE does work.:D
Our 2nd life 1/2 DOW upped IL2s and other 1/2 upped La5s. The 4 of us in IL2s went NOE to that river by V57. We got radio report that the escort was engaged with the CAP. We told the escort to pull fight NORTH, as we were coming in from the SE.
Of course the fight was draged SOUTH and none of the 4 DOW IL2s made it to the target.  Was told by escort that they THOUGHT they were draging the fight NORTH.:o

It was fun. Looking fwd to next frame.

The Nightmares took off in LA5s to escort the Il2s to target. Along the way we met a few enemy and detached a few guys to deal with them and allow us separation to get the attack flights to target.

As we neared the target, many 190D9s appeared. They were coming out of the woodwork! We all ended up in a swirling mass on the deck directly over the target. SOme of the Mares were able to follow orders and withdraw to the east after the Ils dropped. Me, SMUZ, Syz, Tophat and a couple others were unable to escape. We had to fight our way east. Dutchman was screaming "WHere are you guys?!" But we couldnt respond with much info other than "Still at target..many FWS!"

Somehow we shot up enough enemy that we were able to escape. On the way out me and SMUZ were tangling with a couple fws bent on ending our night. Almost clear...SMUZ hit a tree. For about 3 minutes I was alone with 2 FWs. I had hit one of them pretty good, he was smoking but still full of fight.

Just when I thought the end was near, Syz and Tophat roared in to save my bacon. Tophat killed one but I saw him go down as well. Syz and myself, now dangerously low on fuel set less than minimum man/rpm settings and crawled home. We met Vimy in an Il2 otw and somehow we all got home to re-arm. Syz had 2 minutes of fuel left.

Syz and I re-upped and met up with the rest of the survivng Mares over the troops training center. Suddenly many FWD9s appeared. We lost Iceberg, but not before he spotted this force and gave location to us. We killed all but 1 who I believed escaped. We then rtb to base. I wish I had filmed it. It was a great time!

LOL Been there! :)

Great AAR Filth. Those kind of nights are all too rare for me, but after several years of Squad Ops I have some great memories! Of course everyone can't have a great night, some body has to get shot down. :)
