WB III Launches September 2000
« on: June 27, 2000, 09:55:00 AM »
Just posted this up on our business discussion forum, but I thought it might have some interest here as well.

 http://www.dbusiness.com/Story/0,1118,RDU_199360,00.html

"=======================================
1.  The pay-for-play segment makes up 20 percent of total revenues for
iEntertainment, and WarBirds contributes to almost all of it, said Pearce.
"The advent of broadband will grow that number."

2.  WarBirds III will launch on iEntertainment's sites in September.

3.  Almost 1,000 WarBirds enthusiasts -- whom some might call fanatics -- have traveled from places as distant as Australia, the United Kingdom and Germany to attend the annual event.

======================================="

1. I don't think SEC filings supports this.  My math got it into a range of 40-50% and  declining.  On the other hand, maybe that's where it's fallen to, which is not a good sign either.

2. That would be nice, but a stretch I think.  I wonder what they were passing out at CON 2000 that he was smoking?

3.  hehe...well, I guess the reporter spent too much time at the hospitality suite and was seeing double, well maybe triple, well maybe a lot!!!!!

Regards,
Badger

200 is almost 1000.  WB III is almost ready for prime time.  AH will be allowed at the WB Con.  I see a pattern here.

Anyone else think that the Mpeg of the WBII demo looked a bit cheesy?

Sorry but personally I wasn't impressed.

Been bouncing back and forth between WB and AH for the last couple of weeks.  Anybody else notice that the AH MA now has consistently more players than the WB MA?

I think that trend will continue. The future bodes well for AH if they can keep up the progress and momentum.

 The only thing I like about the WB3 video was the terrain.  I still think that somebody who codes something and actualy plays it and enjoys it will prevail over a corporation like IEN.

Brilliant, Funked.  The WB's MA is empty nearly 24hrs/day.  Now the WWII Arena, well, that's another story altogether.

You may want to check Funked's posting date before getting too superior on him.

Well, I see WBIII catching up to AH graphics, and maybe even surpassing them in that dept. however, from what I read, you have to have a REALLY good graphics card, a VERY fast machine, no?

Also, by the time WB3 gets here, AH will have the Navy, complete with manable guns on the CV, and Escort ships, as well as PT boats, and Landing craft for sea-side attacks on airfields, ports, cities, and PT boat facilities, so again, AH will most likely  be one step ahead of WB's for game playability...more strategy, more 'objects to destroy, yet maintain the 'flight sim first' mentality (these words from HT's mouth at the con)  It should be an interesting market heating up, where end-users are  the winners.

SNORK!

I'll update my list:
