What I think should happen...
« on: April 12, 2001, 09:55:00 AM »
Remember, there are all IMO:

1. Bush should pull all American sevicemen back to the US and keep them ready to DEFEND the United States. That's why it's there, to defend the US. As of now we're sending sevicemen to all corners of the globe to protect others. What are we? International Police? It's there to denfed us and our allies, not others.

2. Bush should set up a temporary embargo and blockade of China to prevent their goods from reaching US shores. (All the "Made in China" stuff)

3.Continue research on missle DEFENSE to protect the US from nuclear missles.

This is what I think should happen.

 Sure,
We buy their consumer goods and thus finance their military expansion. They are buying our presidents and senators...
Free trade is good as long as it is between free counties.

Great ideas. No argument from me.

Do be kind enough to remove the radar stations from England. Obviously your anti-missile defense system will be useless without them, but hey, that shouldn't bother you too much, because all your servicemen will be home.

And when the Gulf goes tits up and you start having to pay a little more for your 'gas' I'm sure you will understand, because at least your servicemen will be home.

Of course, all those American construction companies in the Balkans might feel a little less secure, but that's not a problem, because all your servicemen will be home.

All that cheap labour making products that you rely on will be unavailable. There's always Mexico and at least your servicemen will be home.

Might as well dissolve NATO and bury 50 years of cooperation and understanding overnight. But at least your servicemen will be home.

Isolationism has never worked.

Dear Diary,
I finally agreed with a chap named Dowding today.  That's all  for now, just thought I'd enter this date since I'm sure it will be a looong time before we agree again.

Rip, he is sort of right. Isolationism dinnae work after WWI, and I am glad it didn't.

There are problems that do not respect borders, and must be handled outside of those.

The current way of how it is done might not be the correct one, but the fact is that these problems, without boundaries, exist.

To use an Ah anaology, it's like sitting at your field waiting for the enemy to come in high with an alt advantage, when you couldda taken out their fh instead

Heh, it's been a long time coming Ripsnort.

Although we do both agree AH is a great game.

See, there's another one.

Personally, I'd like to see Europe take more responsibilty over its own defence, and its global responsibility. The world will be a much safer place if Europe can unite further and perhaps even equal the military might of the US. The US and an advanced EU would make a very strong alliance.

It won't happen over night though, although I hope it happens in my lifetime.

Right... recognize Taiwan as an independent nation... It's as silly as recognizing Alaska as an independent nation...

RULE ONE. Don't get involved with other country's civil wars.

RULE TWO. If you do get involved, make sure you pick the winner.
