Pc Problem
« on: November 15, 2005, 10:46:54 AM »
Hey folks:

I'm trying to get my old Netvista 1 gig working for a second account so my pal can wing with me. But I have a serious problem.

The XP is stored in a partition in the HD, and when I went to clean install, by pressing F11 on boot up, all went ok until windows went to boot for the first time. It said lsass.exe error, then shutdown and went into the boot cycle again, and again, and again, it's stuck in a loop.

The machine doesn't support CD boot, (besides the cd is on hd) so i went to the MS sight and made the six floppy XP boot discs. That went ok till it asks for xp cd, it's on hd:( So i put in my xp cd from my new machine, and all went ok till it said ready to install windows, then it said missing some file, windows will now shutdown...grrrr.

So what do i do? Even if i wanted to erase the hd, how do i get to the dos prompt if it's stuck in that loop? Does anyone know if there is a set of keys to hit that will start the IBM recovery? The f11 doesn't work anymore. I spent hours on both the IBM site and the MS site, no visible solution.

I have a hd from an older PII 233 that has Win 98 on it and enough space for my needs, can I just swap HD's, or is the file sysytem too old ?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
