Yeah, that's sweet, seen in awhile back.  Although I'm sorta burned out on Jet sims...the eye candy in this one just might get me back up and 'locked' again.

Sandman - I've been around British Aerospace's testing field, Preston. I was applying for a job there and got shown around the hangar they happened to be keeping two of those babies in.  

They were testing systems in a high-speed trial - one had just been painted black for that purpose - it looked simply awesome. I got to talk to a test pilot - he was ex-RAF but seemed to be quite old for testing such an advanced fighter.

I believe the RAF will be using it for everything - including air to ground.

It will be the most cost effective fighter in the world, considering its performance. In simulations, only the F-22 could out perform it - but it left behind the F-16 and F-15.

But F-22 is much, much more expensive.  

What I wouldn't give to be trainee RAF pilot right now - the next ten years are going to be simple amazing.

Ya know the saying... there are old pilots and bold pilots, but no old, bold pilots. Experience counts in testing, I'm sure.

i saw this Fighterplane last year in Berlin during an Airshow. This beast can turn unbelievably ! it has looked as if it can turn 180° instant without delay   and this at highspeed. Compared to all others
Fighter there who took part at the aviation exhibition (Tornados, F16,
F117, Phantoms) the Eurofighter was by far the loudest thing, really cool sound

I was there last April, qts. I can't remember who showed me around, though. There was a recent graduate with us and an older guy - we were showed the assembly line for the Hawk and I think the Tornado MLU. I went for an open day there, the year before as well.

The memory fades, sadly. I find it hard to remember names if I've only met someone once.

I thought you had your own business? You don't own BAe Systems do you?

Hehehehe! I'm a (sub)contractor. I work *at* BAe Systems as a network/system admin. Where I work we build stuff - radar et al - primarily for the Tornado. Lots of ex-military colleagues and interesting stories.

Like the one of the pilot who zoomed over a sand-dune in the Gulf War, clearing it by not very much, only to find a nomad and his camels on the other side (further north it might have been an Iraqi with a SAM). The nomad had roasted camel for his next few meals.

BTW I'd look very carefully at the prospective pay package before joining them.

I didn't like the package, qts, so I didn't even go for the second round of interviews.  

I applied to be a Project Leader.

Besides, the RAF looked more attractive, although that's not what I'm doing now, sadly.
