MA on the fly duel/1v1 mode

I know it's wishful thinking, but I sure wish there was a way to lock out the pickers when you are in the midst of a great 1 v 1 fight.

I was in a knock down, drag out fight while flying a Spit IX against some guy in a Spit XVI.  We were going at it for what seemed like forever with shots just missing, each guy getting the edge but no one getting the killing shot.  It was going to be someone makes a mistake or runs out of fuel.  Instead some guy buzzing over the fight roars in and picks me.

Seems like that happens all the time.  I know it's the way of the MA, and I'm not blaming the picker for shooting me down, but I got to thinking about it anyway.

It made me wonder if there would be a way to essentially ask the other guy in the fight if he wanted to see it through.  Kind of like when you check 6 someone with the keyboard, but instead you are asking if he wants to finish the fight without an interuption.

The other guy would have to hit some key too to confirm it.  If he didn't, then things go on as normal.  Maybe then the icons could change color to let folks know to stay out, and even better the two planes become unhittable to the pickers so the two having the 1 v 1 can finish it.

I even asked the guy who picked me who the other Spit was, but he had no idea so it wasn't like the other guy had asked for help

Those fights come along so rarely, that it seems a shame to have them ruined.  I think probably the last 5-6 of those over the last few months have all ended with me or the guy I'm fighting getting picked by someone.  It's a heckuva letdown not to see it through.

Yeah I know it's impossible, but I sure wish I could have played that fight out to the end whether I was the one who died or not.

That is a great idea , i for one usually ask if the person needs help before ining a 1 vs 1 . The icon color change is a great idea because if ur in a tough fight its sometimes hard to reply to a range call .  Now realistically this is prolly impossible to do , too many jack tulips would still kill ya anyway , but this a "wishlist"  hehe 38

I'd rather see something done about oscarhole friendlies who drop into your guns to cut you off and grab the kill themselves.

Like, earlier today I'd lined up on an ElGay, had him in my convergence, (~D350 so it's not like I'm chasing him from 1k out at this point) and RIGHT as I pull the trigger some ******* killstealer drops RIGHT into my shot, and I'm only sitting D350 off the target's 6! I don't mean that he came in from the offside and started shooting, I mean he LITERALLY dove into my guns to cut me off!!! I almost frelling killshooted myself because of that salamander.

Now, SOMEHOW I still got the kill on that ElGay (apparently enough of my burst must've gotten through to mess him up good) but that still pisses me off that I almost kill myself because of him (only a couple pings, but still). I try HARD not to do that myself, and try for an angle that either cuts off the bandit's escape route and forces him to turn, or gives me a deflection shot without blocking the guns of the other guy (unless I've already been working over that particular target. Then get the frell out of my way!)

How about a way to "call" a target that, for a set period of time, makes him vulnerable ONLY to your guns? Like, 5 seconds would be enough. Set some kind of condition, like, withing x amount of distance, and he has to be in your forward view. You don't get him within that time period, or he gets out of view or beyond a certain range he's fair game. And you can't "call" again for a set period of time to keep guys from continuously calling a target to keep him unavailable to other players.
Ron White says you can't fix stupid. I beg to differ. Stupid will usually sort itself out, it's just a matter of making sure you're not close enough to become collateral damage.

No offense, Saxman, but you just need to kill faster.  What you suggest would be an absolute gameplay disaster.
