Explosions and Craters

as it is now for explosions, a .303 round hitting the ground looks exactly the same as an 8" shell hitting the ground, this is silly and not too hard to fix.

with craters, a hole made by a 37mm AT gun looks exactly the same as that made by an 8" ship gun. also, a 100lb bomb makes the same mark and explosion as a 4k bomb. silly.

yeah i noticed that too.

It will be nice to fix this  for CT.

Actually, was wondering, is it possible to make crates on airfileds, which will distrupt the plane launch.

E.g. You cant go North West of the airfiled, because that airstrip has a big hole, and your plane will bounce and crash when it touches it. You could try, but you may have to go around it or something.

I think it would be cool to crater runways, and have a bulldozer GV that has to go out and resurface it.  I would like crater sizes fixed.

Used to beable to make craters on runway in AH1 a long time ago. But people (including myself) would crater the ends of the runways and when a pilot would up a plane he would die. Making the base almost impossible to use. Then HT changed it where you could not crater runways but could crater other areas. Then that went away also.

Well some sort of balance needs to happen.  A M8 driving at 50mph driving thru a crater a Stuka has left behind seems a bit odd.

Of course, cratering would be abused...that's a given...but most all these birds were designed to take off from grass strips.  It would certainly be nice to have some ground damage effect the operations of vehicles/aircraft.

Cratering is cool - I love the idea of having to spawn bulldozers, but maybe the actual spawn point shouldn't be able to be cratered anyway.

That way fighters can spawn and take off at an angle to the runway, whereas the bombers would spawn but find it too difficult (without much hassle) to manouver to a suitable take-off point.

Tanks should be able to 'lurk' inside a big crater - hull down. Bombers could 'seed' areas with hull down positions for defending tanks and slow down any advance by churning the ground.
Here we are, living on top of a molten ball of rock, spinning around at a 1,000mph, orbiting a nuclear fireball and whizzing through space at half-a-million miles per hour. Most of us believe in super-beings which for some reason need to be praised for setting this up. This, apparently, is normal.

I remember back in Fighter Ace 2 they had craters enabled on the entire airbase area. You were stuck if you ever let a bomber formation stream overhead. BUT the bases there were only one type of runway and all bases were rectangular and you could drive your plane through the crater at a speed of 5 mph or less. Not to realistic on that end but it was something you could do if they just cratered the spawn areas and left the other areas open.
