On December 16th, a tornado tore its way through north Alabama, taking out many homes. This tornado passed within 1/2 of my home, There were at least 10 homes (not mobile homes) that were destroyed close to me.
This one particular home was about 5 years old, and belonged to a young couple. The young man was gone to the dentist, and his wife was gone Christmas shopping. While they were away, their home took the full force of the tornado. Was their roof gone? The walls too? No. Not only that, their home was completely and utterly destroyed, not just destroyed, but g-o-n-e. All the way down to the
floor of their house being gone. I was their about 30 minutes after the tornado hit, the only things left on their property were the foundation walls, the branches of some shrubs,
and the young mans '94 Ford F-150, which was sitting inside the foundation where the kitchen used to be. That trucks gotta be totaled! ya say. Neg. Here's a picture of it sitting in our shop today. It's gonna fix. Although she's gonna have to have some panels replaced and lotsa new glass, and refinished, this Ford musta loved life, there were skid marks on the drive where it sat, they dead end, meaning this truck was actually airborne, then came to rest where the house was!
Henry woulda been proud!
