I don't think this would be a good use of development time. (Not that my opinion matters)

I agree with Kurt because of that statement. That being said I would like to see all the new equipment added that they can. but seeing how slow new maps are in coming & how slow new rides are in coming; the E-boat doesn't rank real high with me...(higher than the jeep though):)

OTOH, how hard would it be to adapt the current PT to a Schnellboot...
other than the graphics of course.  It would be tougher and since the
engines were diesel i guess it would sound differently.  But the physics
model must be extremely close to our current PTs.

Well Rino, you talk like you code a lot of computer games, I'm sure if you work up the models for them they'll be happy to toss them into the game for ya.

And if you don't, I think its a little pretentious to start saying whats easy and what isn't.

Well golly gee expert man, why don't you clue me in then.  What would
be the insurmountable difficulty in coding a vehicle that uses the same
things that the previous coded PT already has?  I'm sure only a brain
surgeon like yourself could point out the problem.

I'm not the one who says what is easy and what is hard Dr.Tude.

I don't know.  I never claimed that I know.. That was YOUR line.  Maybe it is easy... Maybe its 3 minutes hard work... But I bet 85% against you that its more than you think.

I do program professionally, but not games. I work in the travel industry on the systems that maintain bookings and such.  But all programming shares some common ground (that being that very few things are as simple as people assume they are), and I'm confident there is a lot more to it than you assume.  I don't pretend that I've ever even attempted to begin to figure out what is involved in moving 750 little planes around a 250,000 square mile virtual world and keeping track of what dies and what doesn't and making sure that all the other little 750 guys see what they are supposed to.  You're the one that claimed it was gonna be easy,... So put up, chump.

If you read back you'll see all I said was that I think its wasted effort as similar vehicles exist... You're the one who came in saying whats hard and whats easy so I assumed you know something about it.

My point wasn't about what I know or what I don't... My point was more like this....How much is too much?  I mean considering the a VERY similar vehicle already exists?  Would you pay a programmer 80 hours?  160?  40?  Whats it really worth when a similar vehicle already exists?

Keep in mind, skilled programmers aren't exactly minimum wage....

How much will players really use it?  I mean after the first two weeks of 'Golly, look a new boat!!'  After that?  After that its a hanger queen... The PT is primarily a hanger queen.. The only reason most people take it out at all is to get a 'vs objects' percentage in vehicles.  Its not like we see frequent P.T. raids against carriers.

So how much money would it be wise for HTC to spend on this?  My vote... Zero.

So right about now you're getting ready to type... "HT codes his own game man, it doesn't cost anything..."... Yeah, whatever... HT Takes home a check.  HT can spend his time on this boat, or on any one of six trillion other things.  So yes, it does cost...

Sorry for the assumption that you could be smart, I see you are clearly offended.

Part of the problem for the PTs is that there's not exactly a wealthy of historical targets. Maybe if they added more convoys than just the barges as part of a fixed strat system.
Ron White says you can't fix stupid. I beg to differ. Stupid will usually sort itself out, it's just a matter of making sure you're not close enough to become collateral damage.

Agreed. You need to look at the historical uses & targets of PT's & E-boats to see if they will get much use. I think we can all agree that the more realism & immersion in this make believe world the better, but as Kurt pointed out there are only so many hours in the day. I wish I was a programmer! I'd be slinging new rides @ Hi-Tech for free use of their service like a waffle house cook slingin' hashbrowns! They'd be spending all there free time culling my submissions :D

Vospers were used to pick up RAF pilots - maybe the PTs could be used to 'rescue' downed pilots and return them to their CV or port (to collect perks).
Here we are, living on top of a molten ball of rock, spinning around at a 1,000mph, orbiting a nuclear fireball and whizzing through space at half-a-million miles per hour. Most of us believe in super-beings which for some reason need to be praised for setting this up. This, apparently, is normal.

funny how a thread on fishing boats turns into a girly handbag fight.
