Airmageddon was founded 4 and a half years ago today.
After a short and glorious existence, the time has come to retire the squad and allow it's members to move on to bigger and better things.
As is the case with any squad that disbands, the burning question is 'Why?'
In our case, it was not a case of a meltdown or difference of opinions. We simply expired the pool of management resources.
During the course of it's reign, Airmaggedon matriculated over 105 different pilots through it's ranks. A lot can still be seen flying and others have changed their names and moved on.
To the remaining members and all those who have worn our colors in the past, I want to extend one last Thank You and <> for your participation in our squad. We had some great times and moments that will live forever..
After a couple flights of P38s into a A52 from A9, one of our newer members wearily asks after launching the latest strike.. "What altitude do you want me to compress from this time, sir? " -spybite
A couple years later, another seasoned member, while noticing proximity of ground vehicles, astutely observes " There's a panzer at 10 O'clock.. low, on the deck". -PIRATES
This is the stuff that makes Aces High more than just a game. It's our people. Whereas Airmageddon may not have had the best K/D ratio of other squads, or best bombing percentage, or most base captures, we more than made up for that by the ethics, morals, attitude, and character of our members. I stand behind all of them as a group of the finest people you'll ever meet.
Thank you, Airmegs, for the great years and privilege of serving as your Commander. Thanks to Stink, SMUZ, phtom, Tweak, and WesDawg for taking on the reigns of command to keep the dream alive. And, thank you HiTech Creations, for giving us this virtual environment to allow us to escape and, perhaps, experience some camaraderie and humor in a world unparalleled in it's splendor.
