Every time I take off to the North out of Washington National I look to my left.
Arlington National Cemetery is, for me, a very humbling and awe-inspiring sight. The mute and ordered melancholy of row upon row of geometrically precise white markers never fails to cause a lump in my throat.
A glance out the other window reveals the seat of our government. The impressive Capitol, the Washington Monument, the Lincoln and Jefferson Memorials; our heritage shown in microcosm. Often I wish that the men who occupy the White House, the Senate and the House of Representatives would be made to walk amongst the rows at Arlington at the beginning and the end of every session of Congress. I think it would help highlight responsibility and accountability.
Please take 30 minutes this November 7th to exercise your birthright.
It didn't come cheap and it didn't come free.
It matters not whether you like the Democratic or Republican candidates. Vote Green; Vote Libertarian; Write in a candidate, even yourself.
Do them the honor of acknowledging their sacrifices.
Thanks.
