just heard no survivers :(

It is not a KC130 though. It was an AF refueler, so either a KC-135R or a KC-10

Damn, bad news and good news. One of our squad mates is a navigator on an MC-130 Blackbird. Blackbird was his call sign on AW also (<BBD> ). He has been "in country" since late Sept.

I feel terrible about the plane and crew members, and relief that it wasn't a 130. Strange mix of feelings. Rambling ...out.

The Air Force has KC-130s also.  We have them here in Portland with a USAFR unit.

Its a turbo-prop, so its kind of a jet.  Jet engine turning the props.

The news services are still reporting it as a KC-130 with 7 Marines aboard.

So, is it AF or Marine and is it a -130 or not?

Anyone know for sure?

<S>

The Pentagon identified the seven Marines who were killed as: pilot Capt. Matthew W. Bancroft, 29, of Redding, Calif.; co-pilot Capt. Daniel G. McCollum, 29, of Richland, S.C.; Gunnery Sgt. Stephen L. Bryson, 36, of Montgomery, Ala.; Staff Sgt. Scott N. Germosen, 37, of New York City; Sgt. Nathan P. Hays, 21, of Wilbur, Wash., Lance Cpl. Bryan P. Bertrand, 23, of Coos Bay, Ore.; and Sgt. Jeannette L. Winters, 25, of Gary, Ind. All were based at the Marine Corps Air Station in Miramar, Calif.

Central Command, which is responsible for U.S. military operations in Pakistan and the surrounding region, said the four-engine KC-130 Hercules took off from Jacobabad, Pakistan, and was making multiple stops.
