Multiple display question
« on: June 13, 2006, 09:44:59 AM »
I had asked this question awhile back. I know that AH doesnt support dual-display but the question is multiple monitors being used as one monitor by
Stretching the horz to the other monitors. This can be done with the dual display vid card. when you enter AH it defaults down to (2) cloned montiors.
When I changed video settings I did have a stretched horz display. I understand that this can be done using three monitors!

As anyone done this?
At a certain HiRez setting AH did stretch the display onto (2) monitors.
Although having the center of the cockpit between two monitors is not what you want. With three monitors this would be a idea set-up!!

I found this thread while searching for some info on this:

Although it seems they were discussing wide screens like 23" I was inquiring about stretched wide screens using 3 monitors!!!!

Let me know how it goes...

I would LOVE for AH to have multi display output (like 3 views simultaneously) like MS FS does.

Graphics cards are getting cheaper and more capable, it seems that multi-monitor displays (not just spanning) is the future.  Hopefully AH will go that way, it would be awesome.

Third monitor

According to the website I found. You have to install a second vid card.
But, now the question on performance and fps??
I did have AH on a stretched screen between two monitors, except the cockpit was between the both!!!
The question I am asking is the stretched mode the same as the dual display. Even though AH doesnt support dual display but can you use the stretched mode???

stretched monitor!

Yes I did! I had the montiors in the horz strectched mode. I changed the AH video settings, which I think was 1280 X 960 when the AH came up
it was in a stretched view at a lower resolution. I couldn't even access the quit button with my mouse because the clipboard was off the screens. (Maybe that was due to the fact that AH doesn't really support this mode)
But, it was stretched and I did fly with it.
I was just wondering if any body play with this using (3) screens??

Ah, I see.

I would be more interested in being able to have different views on different monitors. THAT would be cool, having your forward view on the center and the side views on the other monitors... then hitting the hat switch and having all 3 displays move.

I am running AH with two monitors (@ 2560x1024).

The seam in the middle is somewhat annoying - but with the trackIR, it's not that bad.

The main problem with this - and it would be much worse with three monitors - is that AH basically has a square box that defines the view.  With a widescreen resolution, you get a much wider field of view, at the expense of the top and bottom of that view box.

The net result is that the cockpit looks like it is very zoomed in - and I had to set the head position all the way back.

The other problem is that occasionally, the clipboard ends up in an area of the view box that the monitors do not show.  In that case, you have to manually edit the cfg files to get it to show up.

HTH,

TK
