Vets
« on: November 11, 2001, 12:58:00 AM »
This is a vets day (S) to my dad. For those that read it before. It is long, and the same one I posted a wile back. It is a good read for people interested in military history.  My dad's story has appeared in a few books. I am no writer, so I stole it out of one of the books. http://home.houston.rr.com/zippo/dadsstory.txt

<S> To you and your dad, Easymo, for your sacrifices in the name of freedom. I just finished reading the Chosin Basin Breakout book. Oh my God, Korea was such a freezing meat grinder... and Vietnam another kind of hell...  <S>

I'd like to say thanks to all of the Veterans that made sure and continue to make sure that I and mine have a free country in which to live.

"btw : are you the Zippo that flew in AW some years back ? "  No. It was just a word I pick at random.

My own BTW.  My dads experiences were extraordinary, even among soldiers.  I am proud of him, of course.  But, I meant what I posted some time back.  9.11 made Vets out of all Americans.  Hearing about N.Y., and the Pentagon, was not much different than hearing that a unit down the road got hit.  The Americans in those places, and abord flight 93, conducted themselves exactly the way you would expect any American would.  Regardless whether they are in uniform, or not.
