Sound card, video card IRQ conflict
« on: August 27, 2001, 08:54:00 AM »
In another thread, Maverick describes a screen freeze problem driving him crazy. The same problem developed for me about a month ago.

I've read numerous times that sound cards (mine's a SBLive!Value) and 3D (nVidia 32 meg Geforce2 GTS) should share the same IRQ.

Question 1: How do you check IRQ status?
Question 2: How do you re-assign them?

ps. Could BattleCom also be the source of this issue?

The soundcard and video card should NOT share the same IRQ.  The way to check is:

Open control panel, click on system, in the device manager click on computer.  Usually by default it opens to show you the IRQ's.

If you find that the video card is sharing with anything, the simplest solution is to:  uninstal whatever it is that is sharing with the vid card, and then move it to a different slot in the board.  Reinstal it and then go back into control panel system and see if it has changed.

Turns out video & sound do not share IRQ.

Reinstalled 3D drivers and set fps to 45 and the screen burping halted.  :)
