Joystick spiking problem
« on: May 14, 2000, 05:20:00 AM »
I've begun to experience spiking problems in pitch with my 6 week old CH Products F-16 Fighterstick. Tried calibrating both in AH and in windows, and am using latest drivers. It worked for the first six weeks but no longer.

I do not have a dedicated game card bvut use one on a soundcard. But this problems appears to be local to AH only. Any suggestions?

Tried the Sitckworks software and it seems to work (need more tests though).

It can be found (as someone psoted earlier, cannot remember who, but a big thank you to that person ) at

Seems like I spoke too soon

First time I ran the program, I was able to get the range up to 250, which made for smooth movements.

Now, it only accepts range 100, and then it is quite jerky.

Anyone know of a fix?

Have you tried chaning your "poll with interrupts" setting in your joystick control panel?

Yup.

It seems what matters is "dzone" - if I change the other values to say 50, the joystick is deflected half way down and right. If I change dzone to two, I get not a curve, but rather an incremental increase, coming like a staircase. Not totally smooth, but might help with the spiking probs. I'll know tonight.

Thanks for the suggestion  .

Try Dx7a if you don't have it already.  That has fixed it for many people.  (If you have Dx7.0 a 250k patch to 7a is available now.  This is much better than 7 Megs.   )
