Help with vehicles!
« on: December 15, 2006, 10:28:48 PM »
Strange thing.  I can fly fine with my joystick, but as soon as I change to a vehicle, my stick won't activate the throttle or directions on the vehicle.  Basically I'm just stuck, my mapped buttons for views still work, but no go on the vehicle.  Anyone can help?

You will have to remap your controller into mode 2, or make sure the auto select mode is activated. That's the small box below mode selection. The best thing i found was to move forward and stop with your Y axis and steer with your X axis. That would be in the driver seat. Map the "yaw" or rudder as well and when you are in the turret mode you can yaw or steer the vehicle without going back to driver seat. The yaw will also work in the gunner position so you can actually steer left and right with the twist or pedal and move your main gun or machine gun with your joystick. It's a world of difference compare to having to jump from gunner to driver and vice versa. It will increase dramaticaly your SA in any vehicle.

Howdy :)

1. Are you getting the vehicle started ok? (E to start)

2. In the clipboard, options, map controller, check to make sure Mode 2 is mapped for the vehicles.

3.  Make sure you are getting the msg from the system.. about changing to mode 2.

4.  Be sure to shift into gear and you can shift through the gears with Q to go up and W to go down (unless I remapped that years ago :P).

I find the simple solution is

Clipboard
Options
Map Controllers
Mode Selection - Select Mode 2
Now use the button to the left that says Copy Mode 1

The stick will then steer side to side
Engine start as before but of course only on the driver position
Flaps will do Gears
Forward stick to increase revs back to brake and decrease revs
Rudder will steer when in gunner position

All in all what most might expect!

As long as we're talking vehicle troubles:

I have no vehicles listed when I'm in the hangar? When I go to a Tank field, I can't take off in a plane (duh) but there are no vehicles listed on my clipboard.

What am I missing here?

Right click the list in hangar to switch the category to VEHICLES :).

Too easy...unless you can't easily find that info anywhere in the documentation.

Thanks.

It's in the help pages under "Hangar". Same place on the trainer's web site.

Aha! There it is.

That's what I get for scanning the documentation too quickly.

Thanks.
