I installed DX8 so that my kid could play Majesty. It seems fine everywhere but AH. I can play fine but when I leave I get a illegal operation error and if I try to run AH again I get a lock up. I installed the latest Detonator driver for my Asus 6800 ddr.
Any ideas?

Change RW to wave recording mode.

Fixed same problem for me.

I just installed DX8 last nite because I loaded NASCAR 4 and it requires it to be able to run. Big mistake!! AH still runs fine...no difference at all, but RW on the other hand doesnt work at all. I can run the configuration for RW and test it and it works fine (I can hear it), but when I try to broadcast the recipient cant hear me.

p.s. - I already set RW to wave recording and no joy.

Make sure your sound card supports DX8. Only a few actually have drivers for DX8, and work fine. The rest seem to be hit or miss.

Also, I used to get errors all the time when exiting AH, turnign off RW in AH worked. Just keep RW running and AH should work fine.

Known issue with DX8 and soundblaster cards (least according to RW's forums). The fix for everything (not just AH) should be simply switching it to WAV recording so it's not using directsound thru DX8.

Why ship a library that doenst work with a SB live card...

Im glad i came in here to see what is up. Dont check hear to ofter but i have had this happen ever sence new Vir of AH. Was realy sorry that i got DX8. So hope this fixes it.
