I dont think we need to worry about that drop altitude thing, PLANES have FALLEN OUT OF THE SKY because of the shockwave. In fact, and American Army Air Force band leader, who was quite famous (Though his name escapes me) was killed when he was making a hop to allied france, and a Lancaster released its bombs after passing the target and RTBing. The shockwave caused his plane to fall from the sky and he died.
