I know this man personaly. I met him before he became a Blue Angel and I also know he flys the #6 jet. It's been confirmed that the #6 jet crashed and the pilot did not survive. Who else could it be?

Very sad news.

Vans, "passed away" has connotations of dying from old age, or in one's sleep. I would not apply that to this situation.

Shame it happened, though.

I just wanted to share our experience with the Blue Angels. This past September '06, Bill (68KO), myself and our kids Anthony and Amanda, had the honor of meeting them. We were at NAS Oceana in Virginia for a weekend for the airshow. We got to hang out with them one night, seen them get awards and had a real nice ceremony. We met them, got pictures, talked with them and got autographs also. Our picture we got auto'd from them we got framed, its awesome.
We were on such a high that night, it was just a feeling like no other.

I feel for the loss of pilot #6.  Like my kids say, Daddy has a new friend in heaven to talk to. I told them daddy is in his glory up there with him.  :)

Just thought I'd share that...

Don't know for sure.  But we have been told by our Commander that they are still coming... so, we will see....  I do know they have more jets than what they just fly, just not on location to where they are at.  All that is changed is tail numbers I believe: i.e. 4, 5, 6, etc.  But I am not a 100% sure on that.  But will check on it...

Yes, they change the tail numbers to match.

I watch them practice every day here in Pensacola. They have a replacement pilot from last year, and they have been flying twice a day instead of their regular morning only schedule to get him back up to speed.

My Mom and Dad were in Beaufort that weekend for an A-4 Skyhawk pilots reunion and they meet the entire team, the Blues did a private show for them on Friday. The Boss brought in the pilots and all of the ground crew and introduced them to the A-4 reunion folks.
