Using the AvA for FSO practice. (All read please)
« on: August 08, 2007, 09:38:57 PM »
I have been in contact with the AvA staff, about using the AvA arena for FSO practice.

Basically they would set up the arena to mirror the AC that are to be used in the current (next) FSO. This would make it much easier for the squads that participate in FSO to go some where and practice, without having to be worried about getting jumped by 4 LA's and 3 Nik's.

The thing with this is they would really like for people to take advantage of this, and show up to use it.

It would take some work on their part, but they have no problem with doing that if squads are going to take advantage of it.

So....... How about it? How many of you would like to see this happen, and would make efforts to get in there and use this tool?

Sounds like a good idea, but smart moneys on everyone knowing what all the squads are going to be in, and their roll. Just a heads up.

I think its a good plan and a fair reason to return to the AvA too.  Once you know which side you are on you can get a feel for both sides aircraft capabilities.  Knowing your squaddies have a "purpose" to go with you to the AvA would help too.  And you can fly the "other" side's aircraft too!

Without trying to be a "PHB", sounds like a Win-Win!

AvA is a great crowd, but I caution you guys on this one aspect.  They've always been there for us.  It's a Great Way to get more people familiar with the AvA, but they have done this before and it was not used.

I Urge you to use the arena to it's fullest, thank the AvA team, and Really make use of it, otherwise it is a waste of their effort to setup specially for the FSO and have it not taken advantage of.

Nothing clever here.  Please, move along.

Hey SLED,

One thing I just thought of...
In FSO, there are sometimes limited numbers of certain aircraft that is used to generate the proper "mix" of aircraft desired.  In the AvA it might be very difficult to prevent the better aircraft from being 'overused'.  Is it something that can be "perked" to help the "mix"?

Example: The FSO is designed to have a limit of 12 Tempests in an expected 120 aircraft force.  Can the TEMP be perked for 20 or 50 or 100 points to cause it to be less desireable to fly in the AvA?

I ask because I don't know how or if the AvA's perks apply to other arena or not.  I'm such a noob! :rofl

While I think using the AvA is a good idea I do think that the spirit of FSO is going to make some AvA regulars angry.

FSO is all about operating together as a squadron.

When I bring my 16 pilots into the AvA we get lots of complaints about alt monkey and gang banging.....

But that is what operating together as a squad is all about.

Smart tactics and teamwork.

There will be complaints.
