Go to Chinatown. You can't swing a dead cat without hitting a good restaurant. Avoid any with dead cats out front though.

You might want to avoid any with dead cats in the back as well, especially if they have Chinese food from the restaurant in their mouths......

I ate at a chinese food place once, and as we were leaving I noticed the area behind the kitchen had about 10 cat carriers and a bunch of leashes and collars hanging from the wall....

it tasted ok though. :D

Hunan Home in Chinatown is usually where we go when we head up to SF.

For great Dim Sum, try Yank Sing in the Rincon Center.

Thanks Makarov9 :aok Hunan/Szechuan cuisine is one of our favorites. I assumed most of the better Chinese eateries would be found in Chinatown but though I'd ask, should someone have local knowledge of a specific eatery; in or out of Chinatown.

The wife and I are thinking of a Chinese restaurant for lunch and then a "fine dining" dinner...someplace that won't set us back more than $200.

We only have one day/night in SF so we're up to making the most of it.

Thanks :aok

Here we put salt on Margaritas, not sidewalks.

I don't want to pull rank, but THIS is the Chinese restaurant you want to go to.

IMHO there are 2 types of Chinese restaurants in Chinatown:  the tourist traps and the so-authentic-I'm-scared-of-what's-on-my-plate type.  But maybe that's your thing.

San Tung (linked above) is in another mini-China town over near my neighborhood.  To give you an idea...there are several others nearby, but this is the only one which has a line of (mostly) Chinese out the door.

If you get there early enough, you're fine...but come 7-7:30, it's a 1 hour wait.

PM me if you want...I'd be up for a dinner with my wife, too, at this place :)

edit:  when you going to be here?  There are great places in Little Italy, too!
