Report from the front; a must-read

This is a powerful piece of writing from an independent journalist from the front.  Whether you support the war in Iraq or not, I hope you are moved as I am by the dedication and sacrifice of our troops.

The journalist is reader-supported; he relies on donations to keep his equipment functional and pay his expenses while traveling to cover these stories.

Michael Yon has been discussed here before.
"Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, martini in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO what a ride!"

I've read his stuff. Excellent journalist.

I found this piece touching:

Quote
Over lunch with Chaplain Wilson and our two battalion surgeons, Major Brown and Captain Warr, there was much discussion about the “ethics” of war, and contention about why we afford top-notch medical treatment to terrorists. The treatment terrorists get here is better and more expensive than what many Americans or Europeans can get.

“That’s the difference between the terrorists and us,” Chaplain Wilson kept saying. “Don’t you understand? That’s the difference.”
