Me vs PDA

I recently bought a used iPAQ 6515. For some reason I can't get Activesync4.5 that I d/l from Microsoft to load on my pc. It keeps saying a missing dll file during setup. That's all it says, no more file info. I'm running Office 2000 on WinXP. From what I've read, I have everything I need to run Activesync. Wtf?

Id search for that DLL file using the 'search' option on your computer.

Sometimes DLL files are removed or placed in different directories by other programs. Im not sure if its a rampant problem in the WINxp system as it was in win2k and 95/98 versions.

If the DLL file you need is not found in your PC you can extract it from your WINXP cd:

I don't know the file name. All the error message says is there is a missing dll file. Not much to go on...

Thats a headscratcher RPM... I have never had a problem using activesync with my 6515...  If you are not actually syncing contacts and email and only files i just use a card reader and my 2GB miniSD or my 4GB SD card for file transfers.

That's what I'm looking at. But, I don't understand why I can't load Activesync. I have a card reader, but it doesn't seem to like the new 60x SD2GB card I bought. It reads the 512mb just fine.

I feel like I'm looking at a basket full of parts knowing there is a vintage Harley in there somewhere...

I really have no complaints about the pda. Everything on my iPAQ works great. It's my pc I'm having the problems with.

If ActiveSync does not complete when you attempt to install it, this may be caused by a program that has replaced the MAPI32.DLL file on your PC. You can use C:\Windows\System32\FIXMAPI.EXE (Windows 2000, XP and Server 2003) to resolve the problem. See http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;ko;820865

TRY REINSTALLING WINDOWS INSTALLER 3.0 OR 3.1 - I DID THIS AND IT WORKED FOR ME. I WAS GETTING THE EXACT SAME ERROR MESSAGE.
