I will be joing Aces High,and will be buying a joystick. Does anyone have any suggestions on which 1 to buy? Thanks

what you can afford, being number 1 priority

vs if you have played this game in H2H mode for any length of time and think you will stay here for awhile then I would suggest either

CH Products ( fighter or combat stick with Pro Throttle and Pro Rudders - ie.... complete HOTAS setup )

or

SAITEK X52 or X52 Pro - Stick / Throttle / Pedals.....

you can also start by buying say just the CH Fighter Stick and Pedals, then add the throttle later ( Stick has rotary throttle on base U can use )

if you just want to test the waters, you can get a SAITEK EVO or ST290 , or even a Logitech Extreme all these are fairly cheap......

Ren and other Trainers have listed numerous times in numerous threads what minimal requirements in a stick , one should look for in starting out.........both in the Help & Training Forum, in this Hardware & Software forum.....

just use the Search function of this Messageboard and type in "Joystick requirements"......you will find many thread topics on this subject........

I use the Saitek AV8R and except for the spring breaking in the throttle I've had no complaints.

Just stay away from logictech a.k.a. Logiccrap

I have the AV8R and its not a bad joystick for $40. The dipswitches on the front aren't too bad, better than a push button. Having the throttle in the front (towards the monitor) is a little annoying, I wouldn't prefer it there.

In my opinion all versions of the Saitek Cyber Evo joysticks are great entry level sticks, they come with programmable buttons, twist rudder, throttle, and hat switch. They're comfortable, pretty cheap, and they'll serve you long enough until you decide to upgrade to something like the Saitek X52

Don't jump into the game with the pro stuff. They are great but can be a pain to setup at times.

Not the CH stuff. Espc if you use them without the control manager. Plug em in and map em in AH - sorted...

As a Saitek rah-rah man for probably over 10 years, I'd advise getting the CH USB Fighterstick and Throttle over the X52 Pro. The Saitek sticks that I've had since the X35, always, and I mean always...lose the view hat switch first. While they've paid attention to the axis control they haven't answered my email inquiries about the view hat switch. So I must assume that is still a weak point in their design. And since the pair can be picked up at about the same price as the X52 Pro, I'd go for a quality stick.

After someone was gracious enough to put a CH stick in my hands to try for a while, I'm a convert. I retired the last of 4 X45s last week and I have no regrets.

I had a ST290Pro for 5 years, and needed to upgrade just last year. Now I use the AV8R and X52. All great sticks.

Ya if you want a good setup and not a lot of money. Saitek x series are a good buy. Their lower end sticks are good with a lot of buttons that you won't get on other sticks. $100 and you can get a throttle and joystick and lots of buttons. Another hundred gets you a pedal system.
Except for the pedals, Ch products are nice but considerably more expensive.

MS Precision Pro Sidewinder. Find it off e-bay "new" or used. It's out of production so you won't find it in stores. Mine cost $20 USD (including shipping) and is way better than any of the other budget sticks I had before it. Not the best, but very reliable.

Must agree krusty, I keep a MS FF as back up. It's almost new like.

I like CH joysticks and pedals -- love the feel of them, and they last a long time.
