Do any of those products touted to minimize the impact of a cold if taken at onset work? Any personal experience?

I'm a fan of any of the zinc stuff.  Lozenges, nasal swabs, whatever.  I always keep a stock of the zinc/vitamin C lozenges around in case I feel myself starting to come down with something.  I think they help quite a bit.

alka-seltzer plus cold (NOT plus cold and flu!) does the trick for me at work.

Thanks for the responses. I have products to cure the symptoms, but I figured I would try the zinc to see if it shortens the duration, like it apparently has in some (about half) of the studies. As of now I am fully galvanized :)
