nice benifit to the P39..
« on: March 23, 2008, 05:37:40 PM »
I finally decided to fly it just to get a feel for it..

I dont particularly like it, will definatly stay with the Jug..

HOWEVER

today I was trying to defend a base, managed to get a few kills but got got a nice fuel leak in the process..

started heading for home.. ran out of fuel..

landed on a hill and proceeded to roll down the hill for the better part of half a sector.. onto base.. for a successful landing...

cant say I could have done that in the Jug.

Oh yea, almost forgot the best part..

there were 2 guys sitting near the spawn to town (friendlies)  I rolled within 400 of them on the way back to base..

they didnt say a word but I could almost see them going  :huh as I bobbled past at 30mph.

I want to say it was at a4 on the current LW blue map..  but Im not 100% sure. we were trying to defend a6 as it had already changed hands twice.

it was more or less the perfect grade.. I touched down at prolly 100 or a little less bbut once I got to around 30/35mph i just stayed that speed.. all the way down..

Tried this in a Spit and ran into an enemy Tiger.

I've noticed the P-39 is a bit of a match stick.... It catches on fire easily

Also the landing gear config. is quite nice. I lost my left wing gear managed to land on base and that nose wheel kept my prop nice and high while I used brakes and rudder to steer her onto concrete. Not to bad of a plane, I wont be flying it 100% but I will be taking it up once in a while.
