Spruce Goose

Has anyone ever seen the spruce goose in person? Man its huge, takes up the entire hanger. At the Evergreen Aviation Meusum, in good ol' oregon.

Also got alot of other cool WWII planes, like b17 and 109s.

They have quite a few great WWII fighters besides the 109, including the P-38L, Corsair, P-40N Warhawk, P-51D Mustang, and Spitfire Mark XVI   Besides the B-17, they also have a TBM Avenger.

The Museum is definitely worthwhile to visit for anyone traveling near Portland, OR

The Spruce Goose does dominate the entire museum.   Everything else is tiny in comparison.

Am i the only one that thought the spruce goose was sort of an inspiration for the b29? Not so much the early models but the later ones? Kind of weird when you look at the dimensions/plans for them. Maybe a little corporate espionage going on there?

b-29 ... no way . its a mid wing ... were as the Goose is a upper wing like a c-130, c-5,c-141 ect ..these are more of a copy then the b-29 could ever be.

Definitely worth a visit!  They've also got a small IMAX theater, and the Evergreen space museum should be opening up in June in a building identical to the one housing the aircraft collection.  We're very lucky in the Willamette Valley to have this so close.
