Help
« on: April 13, 2008, 09:56:35 PM »
Since building my new computer, everything in the game is working fine except one thing.  Every time I fly AR234's to a strat target, I lose UDP and am disco'd moments later.  This only happens in the AR234 and only once I'm over the target and the ack is firing.  I can release bombs but the target recieves no damage as I disco before they hit.

I'm not running any custom sounds or skins.  All sounds are at default settings.  Running 1024 textures with all graphic settings high.

Core2Duo 2.66 Gig
2 Gig DDR2 800 DDRAM
NVidea 512 mb 8800 GTS
Soundblaster X-Fi Gamer
WinXP Pro

Help.  I've lost 9 AR234's to this so far this camp!

If you're not bish then that isn't a real problem.  :rofl

Okay, well to the problem. Actually I don't know. Want a guess! Check your resources. Sounds to me like something is running in the back ground.

Like I said it's a guess. Could be a bug since they aren't flown much.

Sounds (and I guess a skin) would have been my first guess, but you say it's not that.  And since its just with the 234's I have no idea.

Is it only over strats (ie City, Flak, Troop) or over airbases/etc also?

Skuzzy might want a dxdiag, but I don't know if it's going to be anything hardware related.

It's only over strats.  They are fine everywhere else and it's only after I drop my ord (but I haven't tried dropping ord on anything but a strat target I guess... flying along to target no probs).

Sounds like an errant sound or something to me Bald - maybe the ack firing or something like that. (I'm tired, 12 hour shift tired - so apologies if you've already checked that mate(might have got a corrupt soundfile when you reinstalled))

Does this happen when you just overfly a strat target or only when you overfly it and drop ordinace?
Just trying to narrow it down, as I would have guessed sounds also.

Edit- Might also be interesting to see what happens offline.

Baldie, it definately sounds like a sound problem, could be ack or the sound associated with dropping the eggs.  Try this on some other target and see if it repeats the problem.  I would suggest going into C:\program files\htc\aceshigh II\and delete the sounds folder and the cache folder.  Then reinstall the latest version of AH.  It will NOT overwrite your settings/films/skins/gunsights folders.

Hope this helps!

Thanks guys.  I have bombed strats in a Stuka so I'm pretty sure it's not the ack although I did notice my bomb drop sounds different than it used to in the AR234's (more of a whisling sound).  I thought it might just be the new machine or a tweak in the last update.  Is the sound from a buff drop different than from a fighter/attck or bomber/attack aircraft drop?

I've got the game installed on my other machine too.  Can I just move a copy of that one sound from one machine to the other and if so what's the file name (if you know off-hand... otherwise I'll figure it out)?

Cant help ya with the filename fella (I'm at work unfortunately), but yep, assuming you have both machines up to date etc, you should be able to move the files over. Other way of sorting it would be to d/l a custom pack and just use the sounds for the 234 from there.

Hope you get it sorted fella,

Well, it didn't matter if I knew the file name or not.  There are no files in the sounds folder except a text document.

go into your windows sound settings and turn down the hardware acceleration to 75%. Skuzzy has said in the past that it should help certain sound problems. Maybe it will help this one.

Thanks, I'll try that.  I know mine is set at 100%.
