Formation and bombers returning fire

1. i need help with formations: I am having trouble with them. for my bombers, i used that modifier thingy with formations at the mission screen, it worked. i did the same to my fighters, didnt work  .

wat should i do?

2. i cant get my bombers to return fire. i have put the segment to attack at the merge, that didnt work. wat now?

All the segments where you want they are to shoot at enemy planes should be set to attack  and they will return fire. You also should have can dogfight unchecked. I also know that Sudz told me in another thread or a PM that they are supposed to returnfire when set todrop ords too. However I tested that and have not had them shoot at me yet. The only way that worked was to set them to attack.

If setting the segments to attack is not working for you then post it here and somebody will take a look at it.
