How is the decision made as to where a squad gets assigned as far as axis or allied and what planes they will use for the FSO tour?

The assignments for side, axis or allies, are made based on what side is requested/side of the last few FSO's/numbers needed per side for the event.  Ride assignments are made by the Side CIC who makes up the orders.

First thing I do as an ADMIN CM is to check my tracking spreadsheet of squads. Any squad that has flown 3 times in a row for one side gets the other side (unless they have flown Axis 3 times and request them again .. JV44 comes to mind, seems they like Axis).

Any squad that has flown 2 times in a row has a very high chance of flying the other side. However, sometimes this does not happen and it usually do to side balancing issues.

After I look at the tracking spread sheet for squads then I look at side requests (preferences a squad has put in). Remember this only a preference and once constructed balanced forces on both sides come into play. Lastly if you don't put in any side preference well I take it as you don't mind which side you are on so I put you where I need you.

As for planes you fly in a Frame that is up to the CiC for that frame for your side.

The side assignments, Axis or Allied, are determined by the FSO admin CMs. They track which sides your squad has been on for all FSOs and try to see that everyone flys both side, in a fair way. If you are not willing to fly for both Axis and Allied, you should not sign up for FSO. Most squads would like to fly Allied each tour but even the squads which request Axis each tour, will not be granted that request as that's not what FSO is about.

As Gaidin said, ride assignments are determined by the frame CiC with a squads' ride request given consideration, but if you are not willing to take whatever ride is handed out to you, again, you should not sign up for FSO.

The FSO admin goes to great effort to balance the sides based on too many factors to list here, but the concept depends on players willing to take the tougher rides and assignments as well as the preferred ones.

Edit: hehe, see GDs post above

rgr James. Sometimes it's good to remind people what the concept is, and suggest that those who are not on board find something else to do.

For me its one thing to play and have fun but another to understand the mechanics of how things work that makes it a bit more immersive. I don't have any problems with the FSO just want to see what makes it tick
