Skins
« on: June 19, 2008, 08:38:20 AM »
Howdy....

What is the program used to create skins.  As an ardent supporter of Mossie pilots worldwide I want to do mine up in certain squadron colors.  The root issue for this post (besides the fact that I do not know how to do it yet) is history vs. cool.  The Photo Recon planes had a rocking paint scheme, but I fly the fighter.  633 Sqd may not have flown that exact variant.  What is the consensus?  Could you doll up a 109 variant that is not the exact same one flown by Hans Joachim Marseilles and roll with it?

Anyhow, I would like to learn to create the skins and could use some help.  As far as historically accurate, well, lets see if I can even create a skin (ha ha).

"In 1940 I could at least fly as far as Glasgow in most of my aircraft, but not now! It makes me furious when I see the Mosquito. I turn green and yellow with envy.  The British, who can afford aluminium better than we can, knock together a beautiful wooden aircraft that every piano factory over there is building, and they give it a speed which they have now increased yet again. What do you make of that?"  -  Hermann Göring, January 1943,

Skins have to be historical, and I believe the skin on the plane must have had one or two real combat sorties. I believe most skinners here use Photoshop and GIMP.

I'd guess the Custom Sounds & Skins forum would be the better place to post this in ;)

I don't think HTC would allow a 633 Squadron skin as it was a fictitious squadron invented for the movie of the same name. IIRC the Mossies used in that movie were glass nosed versions dressed up to look like the cannon armed Mk VI we have in AH. Photo recon planes were glass nosed so they wouldn't be allowed either.
