Well I wanted to drop a little note to you all to let you know that I broke my #1 rule about using the internet for purchases. I figured I knew what sites were safe and what were not.
Well after having this same card number for almost 10 years, I have to give it up.
I appears, the Korean mob is at it again as they have harvested tens of thousands of credit cards and are setting up accounts all over the place under my name.
So far fortunately, it appears they are all pre-auths for $1. Companies probably checking to ensure your card is valid when the person uses it.
Anyway - back to my #1 rule. NEVER use your main debit or credit card for internet purchases. ALWAYS use ONE Card that you ONLY use for internet purchases, ensure that it is NOT a debit card if you can help it, and talk with your bank about fraudulent charges and how you will be reimbursed.
They got me for $7. But it could have easily been 1000 times that if they tried hard enough.
Here's the sad part. I don't use it for non reputable websites.
In order to track this down, I'm looking for reports stating that any of the following networks may have been compromised.
-Hitech creations.
-Health America Insurance
-Nissan Bill matrix
-Verizon Wireless
-Leep Wireless
-Nissan Financial
-First National Bank of Pennsylvania
-Chase Identity Protection.
-Amazon.com
-Newegg.com
-Paypal.com
These are the sites that MIGHT have my cc # stored.
Yes I know they can get my number from dumpster diving. But all the charges and the originating IP's were from Korea so, I believe it's harvested.
If anyone has information shoot me a link to the story. I want to pursue this. An acquittance of mine had several thousand in fraudulent charges placed on his card by the Russian's in Vegas. They're almost worse than the Korean mob.
Funny how we are so concerned about terrorism, which we should be - but these mobs are slowly and silently taking control of major cities in the United States. Silent invasions from political correctness.
