Someone ran you over in a golf cart?  That is just rude! They may as well walk in your line.  Bad form.

Shane,

If you ever get up to Austin Area and want to play.....Let me know via PM here. I play at a nice course. Be fun to play sometime and beat you like you beat me on AH :rofl

yeah, i'll take you up on that, perhaps when stang is here so you two can gang me, lol...  I have a gooid buddy here, too, who's a level 2 PGA apprentice and has been, errrmm... trying to teach me toejam, some of it sticks... so hopefully I can get him to come along too.

my home course is woodlake here in San Antonio (they held the Tx open there for a few years in the 70's), and I play at randolph AFB a lot, and have played a wide variety of courses down here.

we had a tourney at lakeway (live oak and yaupon) last month, and i've played a few other austin area courses such as Clay/Kizer and umm i think shadow glen or blackhawk.. something like that.  I also noticed Falcon Head and it seemed very nice.  Plum Creek in Kyle isn't too bad, but they've changed management last year, so I dunno now.
I'll PM you sometime soon and see about setting up something.  And if you ever drop in at the Valero Tx Open (Oct) I'll be working #18 - always get some free passes.

Just don't expect "Shane" lol - that was pure AH persona. My best so far is an 81 - which shattered my old 86.. but I generally score around low 90's.

Sounds Great Shane!!!!!  I have a bud who plays VERY well. Andy Corder. He's actually playing in the Texas State Open next week in Tyler at the Cascades. He shot 66 to qualify last week. Today , at our home track he shot 62. He had an eagle from 120 on a par 5....and 7 birdies.

I play at Star Ranch. It's just up the road about 5 miles from Blackhawk. I've played Shadow Glen , Blackhawk , Live Oak Yopaun , The Hills , Kizer , Clay , Mo Willy , Muni , Barton Creek Lakeside and Fazio , Austin C.C. , Onion Creek , Lost Creek , Plum Creek , Quail Valley , La Cantera , Pecan Valley , Oak Hills (My bud I mentioned is a member there)  , Tapitio springs , and a few more I can't think of.

It don't matter to me what ya shoot. I enjoy playing. www.starranchgolf.com is the track I play mainly.

Bring your teacher up....we'll tee it up.

Cool... my PGA friend is working with the 1st Tee of Austin, as he knew Alan Wooley (sp?) who was working at Plum Creek Alan is now Exec Dir for the 1st Tee of the South TX PGA Region.

My other golf buddy's (older guy) son is married to the daughter of the guy who owns Tapatio, and we play out there now and then - fairways are struggling this year, badly.

We'll meet up and play sometime soon - expect a PM from me.  My schedule is very very flexible.  Maybe Falcon Head if you've not yet played it.  It looked in better shape than live oak/yaupon when I saw it last month.

Played Falcon Head...but would love to again....Avery Ranch is really nice as well. Hell I'll play at Plum Creek if ya like....or Kizer (tho the greens there are hurting so Im told)

If ya havent played Avery....that maybe a good spot. Star Ranch has a deal. Green Fee , Cart , Range balls and luch for all one price. And I play Generally in the am. 8:00 9:00 or so....But could be pretty flexible.

Look forward to it.

Shane, go play The Quarry.  Played it in '99, awesome track, the entire back 9 rings around different levels of an old quarry.  It's right there in San Antonio somewhere.

I play the Quarry a couple times a year (they used to have a father's day deal, buy 2 rounds for $70, good anytime for 1 year, but missed the offer this last month, or they didn't re-offer it).  My golf buddy's daughter-in-law's dad (the Tapatio Springs owner) used to have a partial interest in the quarry as well, but he sold out last year or 2.  The Quarry is nice and in general very good shape - played it in late May, twice.

but...  the best SA track imho is Canyon Springs followed by La Cantera (can't speak for the snobby private clubs).  There's a decent track on the west side, The Golf Club of Texas, and one on the southeast side, Maverick (opened last year).  The Bandit is also very good... hell, lotta good tracks with reasonable rates around town.
