I can't preload textures to system memory in the video settings menu.  I have a dv9000t hp laptop w/ a 2.4ghz core 2 duo, 4 gigs of ram, and a 8600m gs w/ 512mb of video ram.  I'm running the game at 1680x1050 and with the high res texture package.  When the game is running it use's only half of my system memory and only 7 mb's of my video memory and i also average around 60fps in game with all the settings maxed out and i don't know why it won't let me preload.  Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

you can't go by the in game memory numbers. In most cases they are reported wrong by the video card.

Switch back to the 512 textures, and after it rebuilds the cache check the settings again. It grays out if you don't have much space
