Yup Ive done it myself during drills. The guy in charge of the ops room tells the officer on deck (captain or CO) where to stear the boat during an "air raid". Basicly I took command of the ship in those situations. The captain/co knows that the guy in ops has a far better SA than the they have on the bridge. In the new boats this is somewhat changed though because now the captain/co's place is in the OPS room.

Ive even seen an enlisted special forces guy kick a fresh officer around because the fresh officer didnt like the way the enlisted man wore his uniform. That was something i wish i had filmed. That junior officer was foaming and jumping up and down without that doing much good :D

I can think of several more situations that junior officers have been annihilated by enlisted members.  Of course they were all E-7s and above.

The movie that pissed me off was "Desert Thunder". Completely unrealistic and a lot of scenes were taken straight from Iron Eagle.

Another thing is that, the cover was F15s. In the movie the guy goes around asking "Do you wanna fly F14's?" and they actually flew F16s...HORRIBLE movie.

The book is better, but the DVD is worth owning.

Now if Brad Johnson could win for the Cowboys like he did in Vietnam.
There must also be a flyable computer available for Nefarious to do FSO. So he doesn't keep talking about it for eight and a half hours on Friday night!

Best 'air war' story I ever saw:

'Peice of Cake'

..mini-series by Hallmark, follows the book fairly well.
More 'real' than many glorified 'hero' stories.
A few inaccuracies ..spits never went to France to help the French.
(hurricanes did)

Classic characters that blended a lot I have read about.

Great book, although I didn't like the change they made at the end of the movie from the book.(CH3)
