i wish that tanks could turn 360 degrees instead of turning like they have four wheels,
correct me if im wrong, Tanks could do that Right?
but thats my wish, and i don't think it would tank much time to make it happen either if HTC decides to do so. thats my wish

Unless I am mistaken most WWII tanks could not run one track in reverse and the other in forward.  There is a term for that, that I am not recalling before I drink my coffee...

I think what they did was just stop one track to turn on the spot.  I now very little about tanks tho.

i think your right, but still it would be way better to do that instead of reverse... forward....
reverse..... forward, when all you have to do is maybe press "C' to stop the left track or "V" to stop the right, maybe some had a revers track, but you get my point
an it would also be cool if we could have a .speed command to GVs

I believe the reason for early tanks not being able to have tracks spinning in opposite directions was that the current way to hold the track on couldn't handle the twisting motion, and the track would usually be thrown.

I know for a fact that the tiger 1 was capable of having both treads move in opposite directions

Yes, but I think they limited it for the reason I posted. One of those "Oh crap!" maneuvers.

well then design it to where the ones that could spin in reverse, and just be able to lock one track up and keep the other spinning, the way they turn is by braking one track anyway

nah i dont think it was a single transmission, i think it either disconnected itself or their was a second, it would be fairly complex for just one tranny

I was watching the Military Channel last night (not a reliable source of information, I know), it had a show on about restoring a Panther, which said that the Panther was one of the first tanks to be able to pivot in place like that, and that allied tanks did not gain that ability until much later (post-war).

The Tiger 1 could pivot on the spot. Micheal Witmann used it to great sucess, but it was never recommended. It caused a pile up of dirt and mud, and often caused to the track being shed. Not a very good thing in a combat situation.

tell me about it!, i have to help out on the family farm, trying to put new tracks on old caterpillars, talking in italian and at least trying to talk in Spanish, which brings up a new point, when you get tracked, i hate how much of a slope you get, and i hate how you cant role, just because your track fell off done mean you still cant pull forward, but lets stay on topic, i just want better turnin, for the tanks that can pivot, make it happen, and for the ones that couldn't, allow so you could just use keys to lock up one track like "C or V" it would help out a lot to those who hate backing up pulling forward and backing up..... etc
