Uh-Oh Rooks, Hangtimes has got me Thinking
« on: January 24, 2001, 12:21:00 PM »
Hangtime's post on Fast Attack and the great discussion that has followed has got me to thinking........

Let's try this on the Rook side, but with a twist.....and to say up-front..totally voluntary!

I think if we got a couple of the Rook squads together for co-op raids like we have been doing with Zigrats missions and added a slight twist, we could break up the same old-same old that is the MA.

First let me say that us Musketeers have had a great time flying Zig's missions with some of his Butcher Birds and HBlairs Assassins.

The twist I'm thinking of, is this.....Each night in the MA is a different Combatant's theme.

In other words, Monday it could be missions done with Luftwaffe Aircraft.  Tuesday, missions reflecting the Mighty 8th.  Wednesday, A Naval Theme, or IJN, and so on (with substitutes where necessary).

The benefit is two-fold, we get some organized raids done, and we break up the routine by flying missions in various aircraft.

At the very minimum, I think if we got 2 or 3 squads together to fly mission profiles (in any planes) we would have enough to have a critical mass of pilots to create some offensive momentum.

Anything to encourage variety is good.  Especially if it is well planned.

Good Luck,

I see we're gonna have to get a SAS team over there to do some precautionary kidnappings.

Mind if I steal that idea Cobra??

Over in Bishland we have several guys on from most of the key squads here on every night. Most of these squads specialise in one type of operation or platform already.. the FAST ATTACK profile is designed to rope 'em into a co-operative progamme of offensives every night.

Adding a 'theme' as you suggest just makes it more fun... and provides more reasons to do it. Tactics vary a bit based on core platforms used; but the teamwork and organizational concept remains constant.

No matter what we do; the challenge remains... "how to get the mob to function as a team". Yer idea rocks. Good one.

Cobra,

Just let us know your targets and the type of rides that are incoming and we will make sure that the welcoming party is of the right type and nationality to ensure that your evening will be enjoyable.

Zig,
Great!  And you bet, the Wrecking Crew, the Flying Pigs, and the Flying Tigers would be great to get involved!!

I'm thinking that first mission time could start around 9:00 pm Eastern and Second official Mission time could start around 10:00 pm eastern (note to bish and knits, NOT the REAL times...just deceptionary tactics!!), and so on.  That way, guys will know around what time missions will usually form up and they can plan their flight time accordingly if they want to join the fun!

The pre-set times might help solve the dilemna of getting guys to join missions.  If they know roughly when the missions will be available each nite, it helps them to plan around that.

Of course, the MA situation may dictate modifying the start times, but you get the general idea.

Yikes Milo,
I'm with Hang.....scared!!!

Hang,
Steal away   .  I would love to see the opposing teams doing the same.  Hell we might even get the historically right type of interceptors up to meet you on a fighter sweep mission.

33rd Strike Group are slowly but surely adding to their numbers in the arena.  In the past few weeks, we've had a couple more of the old AW contingent migrate over to AH.

Crash has been trying to organize some official squad nites to increase our turnout.  This might be just the initiative we need to organize something.

Great idea...I think the 33rd would like to be involved as well.

Cobra,

If you put the missions into the mission editor (does it work now?) and give a bit of warning, if I'm online I'll fly the missions.

Can't say I'll definately be online, but if I am and there's a good organized mission, I'll show and try to drag some pigs with me too.  I forwarded this thread to the pigs for comment.

Hi all!!
The Flying Tigers, despite their freewheeling, independent nature will be willing to attempt a little organized mayhem I'm sure...   I will try to get them notified and we'll see what happens.

Great idea...I'm in.  We're gonna need a person or committee to accept and filter through the mission ideas submitted by the various rank and file squad members.  Who wants to do it and what format and what informaiton do they want for mission planning?  Also, we should establish an address book for the people interested in planning and participating.  In short, who wants to run this baby and what do they need?

I think this is a great idea.  Maybe someone could setup a seperate BB dedicated to Rook only issues.  Not everyone mind ya, just those key rook representatives that could be selected to lead this motely crew.  Say 8 to 10 noted leaders within Rookland.

They could meet and discuss various missions and critique past missions in an attempt to bring some order to Rookville.

Perhaps we could select 10 predominant squardrons who are dedicated Rooks to headup this group.  The squadrons could be represented by their prospective C/O's who could plan our objectives in a safe and secure location.

The Bish and Knits could do the same thing and leave us all guessing.
