You're right about the price.  I didn't realize the price had come down so much.  Still, it is at least about a $50 difference.

If you don't have anything, it's best to just buy the TrackIR.

Soldering iron, wire, connectors, LEDs, camera or wiimote/bluetooth adapter add up fast. I already had everything, which is why it only cost me about $10 in bits.

Update,  Getting the Free Track settings right is proving to be a hassle.  Does anyone know where to find the English language version of the directions for Free Track.  I have found mention of them on their web site but can't actually find them.

As Indy posted, that version 2.1.  I do not believe there was a 2.2 english version of the manual.  But other than the FPS multiplier for the webcam, there aren't any user inferface differences.
