Are there aircraft carriers in this  or only battleship groups?

No Carriers, just Cruiser TGs as targets for both sides. The Solomons campaign was mainly fought with land based naval a/c on both sides, I was not trying to recreate Santa Cruz or Coral Sea, at least not in this setup.
