Dial-Up
« on: February 11, 2009, 06:05:18 PM »
Hey guys. I used to play AHII all the time and now i am down to a Dial-0Up connection. I was just wondering what is the very minimum speed to play with and still not lagg. ( I usually run about 44.0 Kbps with Dial-Up)

Thanks,

That's more than enough to play AH. Connection stability & Ping time is much more important than "speed" (=bit rate)

When I flew for almost 2.5 years on dial-up, I was on a Pentium 3 PC.   I kept XP Pro "extremely Clean", with AH up I had 13 processes running.   I downloaded SP2 and then reverted back to SP1 as I found SP2 added 3 or 4 processes (one of the few things I cannot remember exactly).   I stopped downloading Torrents, Music, etc as I found it took almost 24 hours for the connection to "Stabilize".

I never had a single complaint of lag and ran a 1st Gen GeForce DDR-DVI and got 30-30fps in a large furball.

I've never run the game on dial-up, but I considered it when I had cable and anything would have had more stability.  Stability of connection is the key, not the speed.  Wonder, a squad mate, had dial-up for years and would see tanks pop and get a shot off before my cable even showed the tank.  You should be fine.
