Attention Skins makers
« on: June 01, 2009, 12:34:00 PM »
Hey I went to the skins website and looked at help/faq's. Is there a "skin making for dummies" out there anywhere. I know its not gonna be easy, but ive never even messed with paint shop before. I DL'ed the version that Greebo mentioned in the Tiffie post, but im not sure how to even get started. Im not that great with computers and even worse with paint shop.
PM me or reply in here if you can direct me to more detailed help or willing to do some 1 on 1 work. I have a ventrilo server for some other games that I play. We can set a day and I can give the Vent info. Thanks

I don't like Simmer's. They used to have REALLY bad color swatches. Now they've improved it, but I still don't like their colors.

As for tips and whatnot, they don't cater to AH skins at all, last I recall

I put together a tutorial a while ago. A couple of folks found it useful.

Larry,

You create some of the finest skins in AH.  I liken them to expert airbrushed paint jobs on scale models.  How many hours on average does it take you to create one of your skins?

Well I don't know about that. I think I'm okay but no were near people like Greebo and Fester. On average if I start from scratch maybe 20-40 hours depending if I want to do lots of details. That 4th FS/52nd FG Spit IX skin that I just did was probably at the high end of that scale. One of these days I'm going to remember to actually time myself and see how long it takes.
