« on: June 12, 2009, 03:37:21 PM »
Well i finally was able to understand the basics to get around to making my first one. Going to do them in parts as with each part i will become better at making them. Opinions are highly encouraged, not too much flaming please.  ;)

Solid effort.

Some of the drama is lost with the grainy resolution and the gigantic fraps logo feces.

There's a space in the link, and when I copy/paste to get rid of the space it says page not found.

Include the space, Latrobe.

MjTalon, your next movie needs a higher resolution. Your minimum resolution should be 800 x 600. You should also consider zooming in some when using external views. It's difficult for viewers to see things such as your opponent in a battle when you don't zoom in to show some detail.

Thank you for using a soundtrack!

Keep trying to get better. Although this had bad quality (WMM trademark) and a low resolution, you are showing the signs of a story-teller. Good news for you, a lot of people here like stories.

I dunno about 800x600.  The past movies I've made which have been pretty good quality were at DVD quality settings which is 720x480.  Current projects I've messed with have been in HD quality 970i IIRC ~ 1300x800 something.

Nice Talon, was just waiting for the fight to start, when I got a "To Be Continued" ya git lol........

Liked the way you incorporated what was going on inside your bird, and the convo between planes - although that could have been done via vox for more authenticity (just my opinion matey)

Overall, enjoyable little movie.

Thanks Wurzel and everyone else for the opinions and advice. I will make the next film larger, i thought when i was filming that the size was adequate but i it wasn't so I'll work on that.

I do love storytelling in films so I will also be making several more as i better my filming skills. This was just a test for my first movie.

I was throwing something out there since I wasn't sure what the optimum resolution might be for a more enjoyable viewing experience.

Great Story Line.....

You can use the free version of fraps and crop out the fraps water mark using virtual dub.

Virtual Dub is a free program just google it and go to the download web site. Plenty of tutorials on You Tube.

I would suggest that you go to a  higher resolution, you final product will look much better. Oh yes the file will be larger but there are compressions you could use to minimize that like H.264 that of course would be throught a movie editing program like corel or sony. MS Movie maker has some too.

Here is my movie with a different effect:
