That bare metal is waaaaay sexier.   :rock

Ahh but he went with me into a mob.  Can 't argue with that.  I do think he survived though, while I ended up in flames per usual :)

In my opinion the 38 drivers in game are a small community. All the guys that call the 38 their "main ride" are 38 dweebs in real life too. Books, videos, airshows, pictures etc...it attracts em. I can tell you, I'll have the TV on the history channel in the other room while I'm doing something. If I so much as hear the name "P-38" I'll run right to the TV to see whatever the narator is talking about. The Lightning has been my favorite aircraft since I first set eyes on it.

Right now I think you'll find that for the most part the 38 drivers are out there looking for a good fight, and most of the 109 pilots are, with the 109K guys in particular looking to have at it.

I don't know that there are any other birds you can really associate with mainly air to air guys right now, at least consistantly.

I've always liked the 38s, read about them, watched documentries on them, but never really flew them that much.  Then the other day I watched the recovery of Glacier Girl.  I though maybe I should really put the effort into learning it.  I love it now. I love hanging on the props and kicking her over to hose down a spit16 or La7.  Now if I could get .nopilotwound to work, I'd be set.

Me thinks you complain too much of what you have accomplished grasshopper....  That landing is on the road to induction into SAPP I believe.

Not true...my favorite bird has always been the p47, I just could never fly it.

Well....you are an exception then Fringe. No harm in liking the 47 though, it's easily my second favorite. The background on my laptop right now is of Hub Zemke's 47 and 3 other 56th birds.

Agree with you on the 109K or any 109. Alot of people use the 38 for ground attack, so Its 50/50 IMO. Still learning what not to do in the 38. :aok

I just want to say thank you to Corky and the rest of the 80th for the 38 tips.  I had a lot of fun flying it, and quite possibly be putting the 51 to rest for a bit.   Now if I can just get the landings figured out...

Thanks again <S>

Not many people know that 'landings' are something of a tradition in the Guppy family.  Doing some in depth research, I discovered a couple of shots of a relative of Guppy's that flew Spads in WW1.

Lt. Nigel Corky III using a farm house to come to a stop after landing.
