Huge SALUTE to HTC staff and......
« on: July 29, 2009, 02:01:36 PM »
Huge SALUTE to HTC staff and everyone on the boards that helped, not hindered.  :salute

I was so p.o.ed yesterday after installing the new update that I almost ended my sub. I had serious issues with graphics,(like alot of members do right now), stuttering and warping and low FR's. I couldn't play and was beside myself. I have no extra money for upgrades and such due to the economy, so you can surely see my plight. After reading all the complaint threads and some cross referencing with some HTC staff, I was able to successfully install run the new patch/update with better than expected results.

I have a very low-end machine compared to many I read about in the "complaint" threads.
My system specs (rough):
Compaq Presario desktop
Intel Pent 3 2.66Ghz processor
512MB system RAM
Nvidia GeForce MX4000 128MB RAM vid card

With all settings set high on vid card and in-game settings maxed, before update I could get FR's avg 40-50fps
except in BIG furballs FR would drop to 15-20fps. I was running 1280X1024 res @ 512 tex.

Today, after some messin' around with settings, I can run in-game graphics sliders at full, 1024X768 res @ 512 tex, my FR are running a solid 50-60 fps with an occasional drop to 30 fps. No stuttering or warping. Game play seems nice and smooth. Now, granted, my system is pretty low-end and the eye candy so many are getting to enjoy, I'm not. But, that's ok. I don't need good lookin' terrain to fly and fight, though it is a plus.

The purpose of this post is to thank everyone who gave their POSITIVE input on solutions, quick patches and all around professionalism..Thank you Skuzzy, Pyro, HiTech, Sudz and everyone else at HTC that has been slammed the last 24+ hours with complaints. You guys are the poo!! Thank you to all in the AH community that helped out instead of shutting out.  :rock :salute

I second that. I was really cranked up last night, couldn't even read the frickin gauges on the dash, FR 7-15. I ended up in the TA and both widewing and gostth were there. Salute to both of them for their patience, i am sure it was sorely tested. Chewie's " low end machine " is high end compared to mine.
Single core AMD 64 1.7
1 gig ram
ATI 9600 256 card.

After listening to the advice I went back to Skuzzies BBS on setup and started from square one.
bottom line is 40-70 fr with everything max out. Gameplay is fine.

So everyone take a time out and clean up your machine and listen to all the great advice, my machine is older than 90% of aher's and if it can play ok so can yours.

Thanks To all at HT
