Okay, problem is gone.... Why? Beats me, I didn't change any hardware whatsoever.

There may be an explanation, but it's extremely unlikely.

I cleaned up my registry, there was a lot of AH2 junk remaining after I uninstalled the old game and installed the new one. 137 registry items, and several critical ones relating to the old film viewer.

Immediately after the clean-up, I logged onto the game... No more cyclic stutter. I logged into several arenas. No issues. Finally, I was able to spend some time in the TA and then in the MA. Once again, not stutters at all.

Is there a connection? I don't have the expertise to say. What I do know is that my problem is gone, at least as of right now.

This evening the cyclic stutter is still absent.

It seems that cleaning out all of the AH2 registry garbage cured the problem.

Gents, I highly recommend cleaning out your registry of unwanted and unneeded junk. I have Registry Mechanic, but this is not freeware.

CCleaner is free and has earned pretty good reviews. It will remove unused and old entries, including File Extensions, ActiveX Controls, ClassIDs, ProgIDs, Uninstallers, Shared DLLs, and a bunch of other junk you don't want or need.

You may find that simply cleaning the registry will help. It certainly is a good thing for your computer.

Widewing: from you description I have no doubt your cyclical stutters is from outside AH. This is very different from the other ones we are looking fore.

Yes, no question the stutter was external to the game.

Good Morning Widewing,
if my memory serves me right, all those AH & AH2 registry enterys probably stem from the fact that you (at lest it was my impression ) would keep several different versions loaded up for access to cross reference changes in the flight modeling between updates & patches..... on the many different plane types.... that is unless you was using more than one computer or hard drive.......

just a thought........

Also to HTC,
I have not went and reinstalled my game from the C:\HTC\Aces High II installation directory..... on either of my OS's ( Windows XP Pro  & Windows 7 RC1 64 bit )...... I have not had any problems with anything or with any updates.........is it a "must do" or am I ok with the way I left it ( the old way )

and when I go to remove both of my beta versions on each OS..I know they should not have any effect on the regular updated game should they?

"When one considers just what they should say to a new pilot who is logging in Aces High, the mind becomes confused in the complex maze of info it is necessary for the new player to know. All of it is important; most of it vital; and all of it just too much for one brain to absorb in 1-2 lessons" TC

Widewing, AH does not really use any registry entries. The one path entry it makes is simply so the updater can find AH.

The other ones are simply for explorer to be able to find ah when a film is double clicked. Also when run both the game and flim viewer update there reg entries so that if the game is moved everything still works correctly.
