Done that repeatedly on my new system. I have all cables connected properly and can get into the boot screen without any problems. I am trying to install Windows 7 RC on this new system as my primary rig.

Already gone through all the possible system failed components but everything shows as good.

DVD Drive is an SATA LG DVD
And my HDD is a Seagate 1TB with 32MB cache

Any ideas?

Hi Reschke,

Can you give us a bit more info to clarify things...  What do you mean by "boot screen".  Do you mean entering BIOS?  In BIOS, have you confirmed that the DVD drive is listed in the devices shown?  Have you confirmed that the system is set to boot to the DVD drive BEFORE it tries to boot from the hard drive?

You mention that it's a "new system".  Does it have a floppy disk drive?  If so, disconnect it for now.

Sorry ghastly I was trying to hurry through some stuff and got side tracked.

No floppy drive so that is not a problem.

DVD is showing in the devices portion of the BIOS.

I am changed boot order in the boot menu and in the BIOS. Now I am going to go back and change the HDD back to the number one in the BIOS but leave the DVD in the number one in the boot menu.

Relevant system specs:

EVGA X58 SLI LE
i7 920

Anyway here is what happens after POST.

Verifying DMI Pool Data................. (standard stuff there)
Boot from CD:
DISK BOOT FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER

I do  that and I get the same thing again

Never mind I just pulled the power plugs and thought about it logically. The SATA DVD drive wasn't getting enough go juice to make it work. I had a fan plugged into the same power cable as the DVD and HDD and I pulled it off the cable and went back and it rebooted directly into the "Windows is loading files..." screen.

By all rights I should commit Sepuku but I don't have a second close by to do it that I would trust to leave the hardware to my kids so they would have a kick butt system for the next couple of years.
