p-40

it was a painting that I saw and liked greatly so instead of painting it I drew it.

I didn't know that a P-40 had a bubble canopy and a four bladed prop  :P

Jokes aside that is what I call ART!  I would definitely hang it in my room :aok

Giving the P-63 a little more work. I'm gonna try some shadowing on the fuselage itself, and see how that turns out

If anyone would like to sample my art, I got some posted here: http://xbrooklynx.deviantart.com/

Here's a couple of my aircraft drawings:
"Spitfire of 417"
I actually got this one signed by Charlie Fox himself. I had crap pencil crayons, using mostly Crayola but some good Laurentiens. Pencil crayon, 8x11" white office paper
(Image removed from quote.)

"Under Death's Shadow...
I drew this representation of a photo I once saw in a national geographic for a gr 11 art project. I used mostly 2B for this, but had some 6B as well. Graphite, 8x11" white office paper.
(Image removed from quote.)

EDIT: Edited links.

very nice work!!!

now i feel like an idiot, all this time never caught on to that  :rofl   and thanx

on a side note, this is the type of art I very much enjoy doing. took me around 50 hrs, drawn in pencil first then painted with acrylic, on board  22by28

Some awesome work posted, thanks for sharing :)

Pencil sketch on posterboard, then inked, then acrylic painted .. corsair is very much a challenge because there is so much going on in that shape ..easy to get 'off' .. tuff to make it look right.

A good detail photo helps, a good model helps even more.

This is an oil painting that my nephew did when he was a senior in High School.  It's a very large painting, about 4' x 5' or so (maybe larger)...  Kid has some talent.

Personally, I don't have an artistic bone in my body...

The sundown F-14 is very well done :)
Nice detail on the ejection seats an such.
Be willin to bet he had a good reference to work from :)
Oil on canvas is amazing stuff ..
I love the color density, no see-thru at all like acrylics so its all about mixing to get the shade you want.

I use a trick I learned from readin about Boris Vallejo to get bright colors on a canvas.
I prep the canvas using Gesso ..it's kinda like spackle, fills in the weave and dries to a bright white base.

(the stang just smoked a 262 in the approach, and now has to deal with the CAP Wulf ..he's fast but ..the Wulf is too)

I have only done a few oil on canvas paintings .. every one of them has sold, some before I even laid brush to canvas.
I have a tendency to bury myself in them, it's just such an awesome medium to work in.

The photo's dont do them justice unfortunately .. color density and dynamic range just doesnt come thru in a photo.

Actually... it looks more like a 51 with a sharks mouth.  Look at the shape of the tail.  Combine that with the bubble canopy, and the prop... thats a 51.

Oh... and lots of GREAT art in this thread  :aok  Love it!

The last oil painting I have done to date . . finished just after starting to work at Kesmai.
Took a long time due to movin to C'ville, whole career starting, Kesmai crunch day was every day in the early years there.

He wanted somethin Big an Bloo . and ..Big.
And Bloo.

So it had to be a Corsair, natch :)
I didn't want background distracting from the moment .. so yer about 12k just into the clouds as you blow by your latest victim, poor zeke  saw ya comin about a beat late.
Sayonara.
Big an Bloo alla way :)

G-man .. Rolf .. got me into Air Warrior ..all his fault.
I had never heard of it.
Just blew me away when I first fired it up on my Amiga 500.
I was so there.
